On the first Wednesday of the month, quiz in the Woodpecker, 8pm. £2 per person.

The object, on Saturday 9th September, is to visit churches on foot, bicycle or horseback, encouraging sponsorship for your efforts.  The event helps to fund vital repairs, maintenance and restoration of Dorset's wonderful churches.

There is no need to be a church member and you can do as much or as little mileage as you wish between 10am and 6pm.  The churches are attended, both to register your sponsor form and also to provide refreshment - some even have cake!

This annual event started in 1991.  Last year it took place in very wet weather but still managed to raise the second best ever total of £80,692.  180 churches took part, and from our benefice, Spetisbury came 30th, Shapwick 76th, Sturminster Marshall 83rd, Charlton Marshall 123rd and Blandford St Mary 163rd.

The parish organiser for Spetisbury is Sue-Mary Grew, 857 613, who has the entry forms and all details.

Spetisbury's traditional Harvest Supper is on Saturday 23rd September at Spetisbury Village Hall, 7 pm for 7.30.  Tickets £7 available from Molly and David Edwards 01258 488 815  ,  from Anna Brown 450 422  or for direct sale only from the Woodpecker.

Supper included.  Please bring your own drinks and glasses.  Entertainment by SODS.

Become a Friend of the Festival and for just £20 you could come along with a guest to enjoy the entertaining selection of films shown on Thursday nights in Spetisbury Village Hall.

We tend to steer clear of blockbusters, but mainly show recent releases and we like the occasional documentary and foreign film.

The season starts on 28 September and we usually show two films each month through to April.  There is a bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks.
